After his belongings were packed up, Ji Qingqing pushed Lu Lixing’s wheelchair out of the hospital since she was playing the role of his wife.
In the basement parking lot, there was a luxurious Rolls-Royce. Qin Shao opened the car door and carefully helped Lu Lixing into the car. Old Master Lu and Ji Qingqing got into the car too.
Ji Qingqing had never sat in such a good car before. The car was driven very fast, but there was no bumpy feeling. The car’s interior decor felt lavish and tasteful too.
On the drive home, Lu Lixing was leaning back against the seat with his eyes closed to rest. From time to time, Old Master Lu would look at him with a worried gaze. Ji Qingqing was worried that the old man was going to stretch out to check if Lu Lixing was still breathing.
Very soon, they arrived at the Lu’s home.
Old Master Lu had issued orders beforehand. The villa’s iron gate was already open. The car went down the cement road that was in the middle of the front lawn and towards the villa’s front entrance.
The light from the sun was just right. Through the window, Ji Qingqing saw a magnificent villa. The front lawn had lush, green grass with a few towering trees all around. The thick tree trunks and emerald green leaves was obvious manifestation of boundless vitality.
There were a few people standing in front of the villa’s front doors and looking in this direction.
Right after the car came to a stop, those people approached the car and looked at Lu Lixing with tears in their eyes. One of these people opened the car’s door.
Lu Lixing was helped out of the car. Looking at the middle-aged woman in front of him, he said, “Aunty Pei, I’m back.”
“Young Master, you’re finally back…” Aunty Pei had taken care of Lu Lixing since he was a baby. She had almost fallen apart a month ago when she heard that Lu Lixing had gotten into an accident. She hadn’t felt any better than Old Master Lu. In return for the past month’s torment, she had received shocking news on this clear sky day.
She had watched and care for Young Master from childhood to adulthood. She had been looking forward to watching him get married and have children, but now… he was going to die!
Aunty Pei tried her best to not let any tears escape.
“Alright, let Lixing go to his room to rest.”
“Right, he should go to his room to rest. Young Master, tell Aunty Pei what you want to eat or drink. Aunty Pei will go prepare it for you!”
With a crowd of people around Lu Lixing, Ji Qingqing felt her presence here was unnecessary.
As she was hesitating whether or not she should follow him inside, Lu Lixing turned and looked at her. “Come.”
The rest of the people, who hadn’t seen Ji Qingqing before, blankly stared at her. However, under the circumstances, no one would care enough to wonder why Ji Qingqing was here.
She marched over to Lu Lixing’s side. With so many people crowding around her, she could only stay close to him and help him up the stairs.
On the grandiose procession to his room, everyone had a cautious expression as if Lu Lixing was a fragile glass bottle. After Aunty Pei helped him into the bed and pulled up the blanket to cover him, she sadly held his hand. Her eyes kept looking at him as if this was going to be the last time she would see him alive. She did her best to appear happy, but after Lu Lixing tried to comfort her with a few words, she couldn’t hold back her tears. She rushed out of the room to painfully sob outside.
Inside Lu Lixing’s room, everyone had a grave expression as if they had already lost a precious family member.
Lu Lixing’s eyebrows were deeply furrowed; it felt as if he was attending his own funeral.
