Chapter 52: Blood and Sadness

“I must get a clear result,” Lin Xiaomi murmured to herself and wrote down the address of Xue’s company.
Leng Yihuang originally thought that she had already given up.
Was Xue Haolin so important to her?
Why did she always neglect him? Wasn’t he much better than Xue Haolin?
He felt upset with a darkened face and purposefully sat beside her, making her shiver so badly that the computers on her knees almost fall off.
He immediately grabbed the computer away from her.
“What are you doing?” She stretched her arms to stop him.
“Speculate in stocks. Can’t I do this? If you don’t loosen your grip, the rest of money will be gone.”
As soon as he finished his words, she felt scared and stuffed the computer in his arms. “You use it.”
He gave a proud sneer and turned off the web page of Xue Haolin.
Sitting beside him, she stuck her head to look at his screen, but he glared at her and said, “Stop looking. Do you understand?”
He then went to the bed with the computer, leaving her no chance to look.
She pursed her lips, but she felt unhappy, so she didn’t argue with him.
Out of the blue, she wanted to see those newspaper cuttings she had made for years, each of which was about Xue and was full of her memories of Xue.
But now…
She came to the bedside and saw a box on the above of the newspaper cuttings after opening the drawer.
“What is this?” She took it out in surprise. Wasn’t it a pink cellphone of the same type as his?
“Did you buy it for me?” She felt so flattered that her smile was bright.
He squinted at her and rolled his eyes at her. “No, I didn’t!”
What an ungrateful woman! No matter how kind he was to her, she only liked Xue Haolin.
“You bought it for me.” She was sure of it. He couldn’t use two cellphones at the same time. Besides, this one was pink.
She had long wanted to buy this type of cellphone for herself. Each time there was a new style one on-sell, she would want to buy one, but even the old one was expensive, and she couldn’t afford it.
She always wanted to leave the money for her grandmother.
Now, she got what she wanted and acted like a curious kid by opening the box immediately. Sitting on the bed, she studied the cellphone with her face to him.
As he occasionally raised his head to look at her, his depression gradually was gone while seeing her contented smile on her lips’ corners.
But would he directly die of anger if he learned that she was using the cellphone he bought for her to search Xue Haolin’s information?
The next noon, Lin Xiaomi had an interview outside, thanks to Wang Feng who left the job to her alone.
Having finished it as soon as possible, she slipped to Xue Haolin’s company.
Standing under Saatchi Group, she found her heart full of pride for Xue Haolin upon seeing the towering skyscraper.
Xue Haolin finally made it and stood above all people. She had read the introduction about Xue Haolin on the internet and was touched by how he took over his family business and how he expanded his company.
The promises he made before all came true, except for one.
She took a deep breath, walked toward the building, and surprisingly saw Leng Yihuang standing aside after a casual glance.
“Why are you here?”
Leng Yihuang said with a sneer, “Is this place your house? It’s none of your concern!”
She stopped playing words with him. “I’m not messing with you. What are you doing here?”
“I’m worried you’ll be driven out by the bodyguards, so I come here. I’ve promise Grandmother I’ll take care of you. What if you want to kill yourself in the river?”
She couldn’t tolerate his mean words.
She looked at him with her teeth bit and directly walked inside without caring about him anymore.
He followed her behind with his hands in his pockets, which made him the spotlight wherever he went.
She directly went to the reception desk.
“Is Xue Haolin there?”
Hearing the name of CEO, the female receptionist stared at her up and down and said conceitedly upon seeing her cheap clothes, “Do you have an appointment?”
“No.”
“CEO Xue is very busy, so I’m afraid you can’t meet him if there isn’t an appointment. Sorry.”
Lin Xiaomi hesitated for a while and added, “Can you tell him a childhood playmate wants to meet him?”
Hearing this, the female receptionist stared at her with more curious eyes like she was a poor relative of Xue Haolin.
Even so, the female receptionist passed the message along.
The female receptionist put through the phone and asked again, “Your last name?”
“Lin.”
When the one on the phone said something, the female receptionist looked at Lin Xiaomi differently and then politely said to Lin Xiaomi after hanging up the phone, “You can go upstairs.”
Lin Xiaomi never expected it so smoothly and originally thought that she was unable to meet Xue Haolin.
As she headed for the elevator, she subconsciously looked back at Leng Yihuang and found that the latter sat on the sofa of the lobby in broad light.
Many female employees around him constantly passed him, some of whom even talked about him excitedly.
Lin Xiaomi helplessly shook her head and thought to herself that such a good-looking man was always attracted to others.
When she stepped out of the elevator, a female secretary clad in the fancy clothes waited for her and said, “Hello, Miss Lin, our CEO is attending an important meeting that is over soon. He asks me to take you to his office.”
“Thanks.”
She entered Xue’s office like entering another world that belonged to Xue.
She felt curious and wanted to know everything.
How had he been these years?
He should be fine and now became successful.
He could get whatever he couldn’t get in childhood.
But, his life should be hard, too.
The office was spacious, and its design showed Xue Haoli’s love of simplicity. On the desk was there a photo frame. She subconsciously walked over, picked it up, and saw that it was a photo of Xue Haolin and Lin Xin’er.
Xue Haolin hugged Lin Xin’er from behind, and the latter smiled happily. What a perfect couple!
The intimacy between them stung her eyes.
“Who allows you to touch the things here!”
A suddenly cold rebuke arose and made her tremble. Subsequently, the photo dropped off onto the ground, causing a piercingly cracking noise in the quiet office.
She nervously looked up and met Xue Haolin’s indifferent eyes.
As she subconsciously squatted down to pick it up, Xue Haolin strode over and grabbed it away from her before pushing her away.
As the broken glass brushed past her fingertips, she felt chill and numb and then the fierce pain.
She looked at the blood on her fingertips and then clutched her hand.
