Inside the forest, the sound of the zither slowly faded.
The Second Elder and them had been pierced a thousand times. They collapsed onto the ground with eyes full of regret and unwillingness.
Sadly, it was far too late. If time could turn back, they wouldn’t choose to go against Ling Xian.
“S…So strong.”
Bai Xiao Qi watched with her eyes wide open. She peeked at the seven completion powerhouses who were never going to breathe again, and looked back to Ling Xian. Her eyes were full of shock and admiration.
Remember that these were seven completion levelled powerhouses. Each and every one of them was extremely dominating. Them combined was even more powerful. Yet Ling Xian used a song to kill them all. How commanding was this?
How unbelievable was this?
“Phew… this battle is finally over.”
Now that everyone was dead, Ling Xian finally sighed in relief. No longer able to hide his internal wounds, he puked out blood.
This scene made Bai Xiao Qi’s expression change. She jumped before Ling Xian and asked, “Xian Ling, what’s wrong?”
“It’s fine. I won’t die.” Ling Xian squeezed a smile, indicating to Bai Xiao Qi that she shouldn’t worry.
Bai Xiao Qi found it hard to conceal her worry. She continued to ask in a hurry, “Why would you puke blood if you were fine? But… they didn’t hurt you.”
“They didn’t hurt me.” Ling Xian sighed. He suppressed down his boiling blood and explained, “The Song of the Crouching Dragon is too aggressive. With my cultivation level, I forced it too much. So I was somewhat impacted.”
“I see. Are you okay?” Bai Xiao Qi’s eyebrows were tightly knitted together as she stared at Ling Xian without blinking.
“It’s not a big deal. I just need to rest.”
Ling Xian grinned softly. To be hurt by one’s own technique was a common occurrence. To others, it may take a long time to heal, but to Ling Xian, it was nothing. Some rest will do.
“Okay, now that they are dead. Nobody will stop you from taking over your seat.”
Ling Xian’s eyes shone as he took back the Zither of the Crouching Dragon. He then shifted his gaze onto Bai Xiao Qi and smiled, “Let’s go. I will accompany you one last time.”
“Last time…”
Bai Xiao Qi mumbled. The Second Elder had died and she can now snatch back the leadership seat. This should be exciting event. But what Ling Xian said just now made her somewhat sad. She lost the impulse to even take back the leadership position.
Because she knew very well that the moment she sat on the leader seat, Ling Xian would leave her. This was something she never wanted to happen. She also knew that it was not the right time to act like a child. She should be rational and be thinking on behalf of the Clan.
“Yes, let’s go.”
Bai Xiao Qi nodded her head and revealed a soft grin. However, there was no hint of joy in her smile.
“Aye…”
Ling Xian sighed to himself. How could he not know what Bai Xiao Qi was thinking? However, he had always thought of her as his little sister. Thus he didn’t say much and walked on towards the Bai Clan’s home base.
Very quickly, the two of them walked into the Bai Clan. When they entered, they saw a crowd of people. It was obvious that these people had been waiting here, probably been watching from afar and waiting to see who would end up winning.
After they saw Bai Xiao Qi, most of the people here showed faces of excitement. The minority however, had a dark expression on their faces. Of course, most of them here supported Bai Xiao Qi while the rest were loyal to the Second Elder.
After seeing this, Ling Xian now had gotten an idea of the situation and whispered, “Act exertive. Declare that the Clan Leader position is yours. Leave the rest up to me.”
“I understand.”
Bai Xiao Qi nodded, knowing that she cannot back out now and has to present herself as authoritative. Luckily, she had a wealthy background. Though naturally outgoing and bright, she was the inheritor of the Bai Clan – it was easy for her to display herself as the leader.
“The traitor, Bai Hai Qing, has died. I, am the true inheritor of the Bai Clan. Therefore, the seat of the Clan Leader is naturally mine.” Bai Xiao Qi was expressionless as she glanced across the room. With all the power she could muster, she shouted, “Whoever disagrees, stand out.”
After she made the statement, a middle-aged man stood out and yelled, “I disagree! There can only be one Leader, and that person should be the Second Elder. Who do you think you are?”
“Hmm?”
Bai Xiao Qi raised an eyebrow, her eyes full of influence, “Xian Ling, he disagrees. What should we do?”
“Easy, we fight till he agrees.” Ling Xian smiled, knowing how important it was for Bai Xiao Qi to establish her position right now. He stopped smiling and flapped around his sleeve. Immediately, wind blew and Qi rolled out.
After a “bang”, the man was knocked out for seven to eight metres. He then looked at Ling Xian in awe. What made him even more afraid was what was said after.
“That was just a lesson. If you still do not agree, then for the next lesson, we will take your life.”
Ling Xian glared at him and grinned. Though it was a smile, it sent chills down his spine.
Everyone here felt a wave of coldness that shot up from their toes to their heads. The way they looked at Ling Xian was pure fear.
It was obvious that Ling Xian’s demeanor had shaken them. Those who originally wanted to disagree stopped themselves from speaking out.
Seeing this, Ling Xian nodded in satisfaction and stepped back softly. He then said to Bai Xiao Qi, “You can continue asking now.”
Bai Xiao Qi looked at Ling Xian in appreciation before glancing around one last time, “Now, who disagrees?”
No responses.
Everyone here lowered their heads. They were utterly petrified by Ling Xian and did not dare to speak out any words of disagreement.
“Good, then let us begin the ceremony.” Bai Xiao Qi smiled, her eyes somewhat proud. It wasn’t because she was about to become the Clan Leader, it was because everyone here was terrified of Ling Xian.
To her, Ling Xian had long become a companion to her. A companion with such influence naturally made her feel proud and happy.
What happened next was easy. After Bai Xiao Qi ordered, a few people stepped forward and placed a crown on her head. It represented leadership.
Then, before everyone’s gaze, Bai Xiao Qi slowly walked up the Bai Clan’s mountain peak and looked down on everyone, including Ling Xian.
“Leader of the Bai Clan…”
Bai Xiao Qi’s expression was calm as she glanced all around like a queen who was riding up in the clouds.
At this very moment, she was no longer the innocent and outgoing young girl. She had transformed into the leader of the Bai Clan, the leader of one of the five controlling forces of the Trading Island.
Every single person on Trading Island had to look up to her. Nobody would dare to act erratically.
However, as she peeked at Ling Xian, who was standing below, a warm and kind smile crawled up her lips.
All of a sudden, she once again looked just like the helpless girl she was one month ago. The one who only knew how to follow around Ling Xian and do whatever he asked.
