Chapter 431: The Return

Inside the brightly lit cave, Ling Xian was calm as he began making the spatial portal according to the history records.
The spatial portal was the most convenient and the highest level of transportation system in the Taoism community. It grants the opportunity to travel through space in instants. Spatial portals are categorized into three realms. The lowest realm is used to travel between cities. The intermediate realm is used to travel across countries. The highest realm is used to travel across continents. The one Ling Xian was about to make was the highest realm one.
Even though only those who mastered arrays can make the highest ranked spatial portal, Ling Xian was the inheritor of the Immortal of Arrays. He already knew how to make such spatial portals.
The reason why he hadn’t called out Feng Qing Ming was because he wanted to use his own strength to make the spatial portal.
“Let us begin, the most basic material, Empty Spiritual Stone…”
Ling Xian exhaled deeply and took out three silver rocks from his storage pouch. They were the most basic materials needed for the spatial portal, and the most important material – Empty Spiritual Stone.
This item was one of the heavenly materials that had natural understandings of Taoism. It was invaluable and extremely rare. Not only was it useful to make spatial portals, it could also be used to make other spatial treasures. It was a material that was hard to get one’s hands on.
Ling Xian called out mentally and the three spiritual rocks formed into a triangle in midair. He then formed a hand seal and displayed the techniques written on historic records of arrays.
Immediately, a milky white light expanded from his hands and engulfed the three spiritual stones. This awakened the Qi within the objects.
From this, it became obvious how advantageous it was to be the inheritor of arrays. For a normal array master, it would take several hours to awaken Empty Spiritual Stones. Yet Ling Xian instantly completed this step using the Immortal of Array’s inheritance.
“It is no wonder he is known as the pioneer of arrays. How heaven defying.”
Ling Xian complimented and continued to use this technique to refine the Empty Spiritual Stones. After a while, bright silver light exploded throughout the area as if there was something magnetic on the other end.
Seeing this, he smiled in satisfaction. Leaving behind the Empty Spiritual Stones, he began to take care of the rest of the materials.
Spatial portals were not the hardest to make. However, they were, without a doubt, the array with the most intricate steps. The array’s composition alone, required 10 different materials. Every single one of them required time to refine. In the end, they had to be merged together in order to release their miraculous effects.
Throughout this process, if anything goes wrong, then the array is wasted and no effect would take place.
Thus, spatial portals are also known as the most complicated array. However, to Ling Xian, who had the inheritance of the Immortal of Array, it wasn’t all that bad. As long as he can refine all the materials, he can make the array.
The process, to him, was not all that time consuming. After merely a day, he had refined all the materials. This speed was shocking.
Luckily, there was nobody else here. If this news spread, countless array masters would express their jealousy and hatred.
“Okay, it’s time to combine everything.”
Mumbling, Ling Xian’s expression turned serious. Refining the materials was not hard, it just took a lot of time. The real difficult process was the merging of the materials. This process allowed no mistakes, or else all the time he spent previous would be considered a waste. There was also the possibility of an implosion.
“Phew… success or fail all depends on what happens next.”
Exhaling deeply, Ling Xian concentrated. He inputted the refined materials into the magnetic field inside the triangle formed by the Empty Spiritual Stones.
This was an extremely difficult step. Every time he placed a heavenly material inside, he used all his strength. Sweat was beginning to form on his forehead.
What could he do? Even though he knew this method like the back of his hand and he knew all about the 10 materials, he was new to arrays and he had to be careful.
Luckily, despite this step being difficult and time-consuming, nothing went wrong. After a day, Ling Xian finally placed the last heavenly material inside the magnetic field. Instantly, the entire cave became filled with blinding light.
Strange and eerier spatial vibration began to disperse. Even the array Ling Xian set before could not stop the vibrations. The vibrations spread to outside the cave and scared the two people waiting outside.
In the next second, Luo Xin Jie and Feng Jiu Ge busted into the cave hand in hand.
HOOMMMMM!
Two beautiful figures, two slender hands, they clashed into the air and sent a shudder that shot throughout the cave.
“Ayo, the little phoenix is quiet strong. What a pity though, your older sister, I, can easily defeat you.” Luo Xin Jie revealed an alluring smile. Though she was smiling, her attack was unwelcoming.
“Hmmph, try me if you dare.”
Feng Jiu Ge didn’t show any weakness. Terrifying flames soared out of her and merged with her Qi!
Hommm, hommm, hommm…
Luo Xin Jie’s silhouette began to float around like the descendent of a female immortal. However, every move she made was magnetic and devious. Every move she made was undefeatable!
She was merely a completion levelled cultivator in the intermediate stage. Even though she was of the undefeatable realm, she shouldn’t be equal in power with Feng Jiu Ge. Yet this woman was very mysterious. Not only was she not having a hard time, she was having the upper hand.
This created a giant emotional turmoil inside Feng Jiu Ge. She didn’t think Luo Xin Jie would be dominating enough to not be affected by the training gap between them.
Ling Xian frowned as he stared at the immortal like silhouette. He made a conclusion regarding Luo Xin Jie.
This woman was a mystery. He had to be defensive against her.
“Hmmph, you shameless woman!”
Feng Jiu Ge shouted out as she walked on with endless flames surrounding her. In that instant, this entire place turned into the mouth of a volcano. The air was extremely hot and the mountain was beginning to melt.
However, against the attack of the Flame of Purity, Luo Xin Jie was not at all wavered. She carried her nonchalant smile with her, “Though the Flame of Purity is strong, its ability is highly dependent on the user. For you to use it is a waste.”
Then, her finger drew across the sky. Like a black hole that was absorbing endless amount of energy, all the flames were sucked into this unknown space.
Then, Luo Xin Jie’s finger behaved like a sword that aimed to slice Feng Jiu Ge’s head open.
Whooosh!
A heavenly light pierced through the sky. Luo Xin Jie exuded a powerful gush of energy that split open the sky!
At this crucial moment, Ling Xian was forced to make a move. He punched his fist that caused Luo Xin Jie to stagger back. Then, in a flash, he placed himself between the two beautiful ladies.
“Stop it.”
His voice dropped without emotions. Yet it made Feng Jiu Ge fluster. She explained, “Master, I…”
She couldn’t finish before Ling Xian interrupted, “There’s no need to explain. I know it’s not your fault. This woman truly is annoying.”
Hearing this, Feng Jiu Ge sighed in relief.
“Ay ya ya, young man, why would you call me that. You are making me sad.” Luo Xin Jie pouted in sadness. Her fake pitiful and sad look was flooding with unexplainable temptation. Even the heavens would shed tears at her face.
Sadly, Ling Xian did not fall for this stuff. He appeared calm and without emotions. “If you continue this fakeness, then don’t blame me for being rude.”
“Ayo, I didn’t think you would be so domineering.” Luo Xin Jie chuckled. Her pearly eyes were full of sarcasm. She bit her lips and whispered, “Could it be… you are going to do those things to me?”
“No.”
Ling Xian said one word and then grinned, “I will activate the spatial portal but leave you here.”
“You!”
Luo Xin Jie’s eyes flashed with coldness. But very quickly, her face was once again filled with a bright smile, “Okay, I will stop then.”
Hearing this, Ling Xian stopped wasting time speaking with this woman. He shifted his gaze onto Feng Jiu Ge, “After I leave, you must bury this entire area. Remember though, the portal mustn’t be destroyed. Also, remember this exact spot.”
“Do not worry, I will remember.” Feng Jiu Ge nodded. Looking at the handsome young man, she didn’t know what else to say.
Ling Xian smiled faintly, seeing through Feng Jiu Ge’s thoughts, “This is your home. You do not need to follow me to a strange place. Also, even though Bai Xiao Qi is now the ruler, the Bai Clan is no longer glorious like before. Take care of them for me. Don’t let others bully the ruler of the Bai Clan.”
“Do not worry, Master. I will not let you down.” Feng Jiu Ge’s expression was stern. Her eyes flashed with complexity, “Master, please take care of yourself. When you get a chance, visit me. I will wait for you here.”
“I know. You should take care of yourself too.” Ling Xian kindly smiled and stepped into the magnetic field caused by the portal, “Luo Xin Jie, come.”
Hearing this, Luo Xin Jie marched into the portal.
Then, against Feng Jiu Ge’s unwilling glance, Ling Xian took out three Empty Spiritual Stones and placed them in the three empty holes he made around the array. In the next second, the array emitted endless amount of light and mysterious force transcended throughout. This meant the array had been activated.
“Goodbye, 36 islands…”
Enjoying the mysterious power surrounding him, Ling Xian felt a little sad to go. He remembered a lot of people and he remembered a lot of events.
Those from the Yun Clan, those from the Zi Yang Clan… Those from the five controlling forces… they all flashed across his mind.
After all, he had been living here for seven years. To other cultivators, this was just a snap of their finger. But to him, it represented youth and represented a valuable experience.
But, no matter how sad he was to leave, he had to.
Yunzhou was where he was from. There, a lot of hatred was waiting to be resolved. There, a lot of promises were waiting to be fulfilled.
There were also many old friends who were waiting for his return.
