Chapter 16: Thank You for Saving Me
Translator: Sherry Wang
Wu Jitian stared at Dong Ling with amazement. He cupped one hand in the other and said, “Miss. Thank you so much. I haven’t seen your weapon before. Did you create it?”
The sword in her hand could be stretched in whatever way she could. And her ability to make poison also made him curious. He couldn’t help gasping in admiration.
“You’re right. I made it! Now, you owe me twice!” Dong Ling admitted it directly.
Wu Jitian laughed and replied, “You risked yourself to save me. After I get over the problem, I will repay you well!”
“I know you will!” replied Dong Ling. She put her sword aside and walked to Lin Zang. She said to Lin Zang, “Sit down. Let me cure you.”
Lin Zang froze and looked at Wu Jitian. He didn’t sit down until Wu Jitian nodded. After he sat down, he revealed his left shoulder, which had been shot by an arrow, and remained silent.
Dong Ling pulled the arrow out quickly, wiped the wound with the medicine she carried, and wrapped it perfectly.
Wu Jitian watched it, without saying anything. He looked more serious as he stared at Dong Ling’s face. Her face was cool, while enchanting at the same time.
He said, “I’m Wu Jitian. He’s my bodyguard Lin Zang. May I have your name and may I ask why you are here in the wilderness?”
Well, he sounded obviously that he was suspecting if Dong Ling approached him on purpose.
Hearing this, Dong Ling was stunned. Soon, she explained, “I’m Dong Ling. You must be thinking too much. I was just roasting a rabbit when your good-for-nothing bodyguard took it away from me!”
Lin Zang, who was sitting on the ground, felt quite ashamed. He argued nothing.
“Oh, I see. Miss Dong, thank you for saving me! No offense.” Wu Jitian made an apology while his eyes sparkled.
Dong Ling accepted his apology and calmed down. She added, “It’s not safe to stay here. You must leave right away.”
“I think so, too. We’re leaving then.” replied Wu Jitian. He nodded and planned to leave.
“Hey, wait!” Dong Ling stopped him. Come on. It took her great pain to find him. How could she easily let him go? She rolled her eyes and proposed, “It turns out Lin Zang fails to protect you by himself. Well, I’m free. How about I go with you so that we can take care of each other?”
“Uh…” Wu Jitian hesitated. How enthusiastic the girl was! But through the fight, he could at least tell that she meat no harm and she was a good girl.
When Wu Jitian agreed, Lin Zang started to get back. He didn’t hate to have Dong Ling go with them. After all, a helper could bring more hope to their survival. “And I think she’s a good girl.’ he thought as he touched his left arm wrapped with gauze.
Dong Ling had no idea what Lin Zang was thinking. They left the cave shortly after they got packed.
It was getting dark. Dong Ling suggested, “It’s getting late. It will take a long time to find a shelter. Why don’t we go where I was hiding? It was a small place. But safe and covert. What do you think?”
Lin Zang didn’t like the advice. He thought Dong Ling tried to take them to her domain where they would be forced into a passive position.
Unexpectedly, Wu Jitian was quick to agree. Lin Zang had to catch up, but stayed on the alert.
With common consent, Dong Ling walked ahead to lead the way. Through a hard trip, they arrived in front of a tall withered tree. Dong Ling said, “Please wait!”
She walked up alone and removed the branches and leaves, meant for cover-up. A cave, wide enough for a single guy, was revealed. She wormed her way into the cave which was really small. With her sword, she dug it to get more space. In case of digging it through, she stopped before it was too late.
That wasn’t enough. She then spilled insect repellant everywhere in the cave. Finishing it quickly, Dong Ling crawled out of the cave, shook her hands and invited them, “Done! You may get in!”
“Let me go first.” Lin Zang asked Wu Jitian for permission and glided in carefully.
Wu Jitian turned around at Dong Ling and said, “Thank you, Miss Dong.”
“You’re welcome. I’m glad if you remember how I helped you.” Dong Ling replied with a complacent smile. Her face looked as if a peach blossom in full bloom. Wu Jitian was attracted.
In the cave, Lin Zang yelled happily, “My Lord, this is quite a nice place. Please come down.”
Hearing this, Wu Jitian also glided in. Dong Ling then pulled the grass by the entrance to cover it closely. No trace could be found from the outside.
Though Dong Ling dug to get more space, the cave was still crowded for three of them.
