Chapter 19: Getting Warm in the Igloo
Translator: Sherry Wang
They walked half away up the cliff for quite a while which was covered with hard stoned.
It was getting colder and they couldn’t help trembling.
Lin Zang lowered his head and followed Wu Jitian, seeing the latter suddenly stagger. He rushed to help him up, but touched the blood permeated from his waist.
“My Lord!” Lin Zang yelled out.
He asked, “Your wound is bleeding, why didn’t you tell us? Stop and have some rest!”
As he spoke, he tried to get Wu Jitian aside for some rest. But just as they stopped, they heard Dong Ling’s voice from ahead.
Dong Ling glanced at Wu Jitian and noted wearily, “You mustn’t stop! Keep walking!”
Lin Zang understood that Dong Ling was trying to find a shelter as fast as she could. But his rich experience in the battlefield made him know that walking on wouldn’t help too much.
He then begged, “Miss Dong! Please stop! It’s snowing so hard! His wound gets worse. If we keep walking, I’m afraid it will fester!”
Looking at him, Dong Ling frowned. She looked up at the snow which seemed to be falling down endlessly and stopped at a relatively flat ground.
She ordered, “Make a snowball as big as you can! It must be at least twice as big as we are!”
Lin Zang didn’t understand her request. He looked at Wu Jitian and started to make the snowball after the latter nodded.
It took a tremendous effort for Dong Ling and Lin Zang to complete the huge snowball. Their hands were red with cold. Wu Jitian, who was leaning against a rock, felt ashamed for his failing to help.
Then, Dong Ling took out a shovel from her pack and dug out the central part of the snowball. The snowball ended up as an igloo!
Lin Zang was struck dumb with astonishment because he had never seen such a strange thing.
After completing the igloo, Dong Ling threw her pack in and walked inside in.
She chewed Lin Zang out, “What are you dazing at? Why don’t you get your master in? Are you going to freeze him to death?”
Lin Zang regained his composure and asked with his frozen lips, “Miss… Miss Dong. Are you kidding? This is an ice house! If we get in, won’t we be frozen?!”
Dong Ling rolled her eyes when she saw the surprised look on Lin Zang’s face and thought, “What an ignorant guy!”
She replied sharply, “I don’t want to explain. You decide if you get in. Or why don’t you just stay out and wait to be frozen?”
Finishing her words, she directly sat down in the igloo, which shocked Lin Zang further.
“Thank you, Miss Dong.” replied Wu Jitian who walked into the igloo before Lin Zang realized.
After he entered the igloo, he felt much warmer. Then he waved at Lin Zang to get him in.
Summoned by his master, Lin Zang walked in obediently. Then Dong Ling covered the entrance. All the snow and cold wind were kept out. The igloo turned into a warm place.
“What do you feel, bumpkins?” asked Dong Ling with a supercilious look. If Lin Zang weren’t the bodyguard for Wu Jitian, she would have fought him already!
Wu Jitian looked around the igloo with a serious look. He couldn’t help seizing Dong Ling up carefully!
“Miss Dong. I really have so limited knowledge that I don’t know we can shelter from the freezing weather in such an ice house. It’s a real shame,” said Wu Jitian, “no offend, but I really wonder how you got to know such things. Did you figure them out by yourself or did you learn from someone else?”
At this moment, his frozen wound began to thaw.
