Chapter 162 – Meng Shanshan… had already been taken away by a big bad wolf in a matter of seconds (2)
While Lu Xun was still parking, Mr. Gu Chengyi had already got a hold of the owner of the boat-rental place.
Right after summer was over was the best time for ocean fishing.
There were seven of them in their group, so they booked an entire boat for themselves.
The owner of the boat-rental place was a middle-aged man with dark skin.
He smiled when he saw them. “Most of my customers right now are families. I see there are three children in your family. How lucky you are, old madam!”
He just assumed that they were a family of seven… something must be wrong with his eyes.
That being said, being able to tell that Ms. Lin Ping was the one wearing the pants in the group was a sign that his eyes weren’t too bad after all!
Ms. Lin Ping, on the other hand, had no problem accepting all the praises in their entirety. “Yup, I went to a fortune-teller when I was a child and he said I will have a good life. Now I have kids and grandkids. In my golden years, my only hobby left is to enjoy some liveliness around me such as coming out to fish and having some seafood.”
Lin Yiyi and Lu Xun knew it’s best to keep their mouths shut.
Mr. Gu Chengyi was the one who wanted to laugh out loud.
Oh yeah? So who was the one who had forbidden him to go fishing in the past?
Unlike the rest of them, the owner of the boat-rental place nodded. “Yeah, the lure of going out into the ocean on a boat, lowering your fishing rods, and the anticipation of bringing in the haul is what makes ocean fishing so addicting.” He led them to a boat that was already prepared for them.
All of them donned safety vests, climbed into the boat, and waited for it to start.
The biggest problem with ocean fishing is motion sickness. If one couldn’t handle it, one would have to call it quits and return back to shore.
Meng Shanshan, the youngest in the group, was the one that Lin Yiyi was most worried about.
She kept Meng Shanshan by her side since she had given her a motion-sickness pill…
She wanted her to keep her away from Lu Mingzhe!
She wouldn’t even let Meng Shanshan go and play with her own brother.
Feeling unjust, the little girl wanted to touch her two index fingers together.
But then, as the fishing boat bounced up and down on top of the waves, and wave after wave came up from the bottom of the boat along with some occasional splatter of droplets of seawater, the little girl was distracted almost immediately.
“Look! Waves!”
Meng Shanshan leaned up against the rails and looked down. Lin Yiyi frantically grabbed her by her shoulders to stop her from going overboard.
The captain, surnamed Fu, had prepared baits for the group, but Lu Xun and Mr. Gu Chengyi had also brought their own. All in all, they have a very complete set of equipment.
The children were just there for the fun of it. Plus, with them being such newbies, they probably wouldn’t catch much anyway.
Meng Yuran just leaned against the rails to enjoy the scenery.
Granted, there wasn’t much to look at…
Contrarily, Lu Mingzhe had been following Ms. Lin Ping around.
He’d even help her out when he saw how unfamiliar she was with the equipment.
After all, Lu Xun loved fishing and Lu Mingzhe had learned a bit from him in the past. He was definitely more experienced than Ms. Lin Ping.
With his help, Ms. Lin Ping finally got the first fish in her life after an hour and she was so excited about it…
She walked around the entire boat with the fish in her hand and showed it off to everyone.
After Ms. Lin Ping had walked away, Lu Mingzhe took over her fishing rod.
Five minutes later, he got his first fish since he had boarded the boat…
It was a little striped bass the size of two fingers.
He pursed his lips; there was no point in keeping a fish this size. He was just about to toss it back into the ocean when a little hand tugged at the corner of his shirt.
Lu Mingzhe looked down and heard a milky voice from a little girl with a sweet smile. “Big Brother Zhe, can I take a look at the fish?”
Lin Yiyi, who was forced by Ms. Lin Ping to praise her with all sorts of flattering words, noticed that Meng Shanshan who was just next to her a moment ago had already been taken away by a big bad wolf in a matter of seconds.
